The First Frost Garden Stool

Some pieces fill a room. The First Frost settles into it. Hand-glazed in a soft, luminous white, this ceramic garden stool takes its shape from the courtyard seats of the orient;  made to weather rain and sun, and to be moved freely across doors. We've brought it indoors, where its quiet gloss catches the light like the first frost.

Description: A raised band of teardrop studs circles the top, and a row of beads runs around the base. The sides are pierced with the traditional coin motif, a symbol of good fortune that also gives the stool its lightness of form.

Utility:

• a side table for a book and a cup of chai beside your favourite chair
• an extra seat when guests overflow
• a stand for a trailing plant or a vase of fresh blooms
• a sculptural accent in a bathroom, entryway or bedroom corner
• Style it with Persian rugs, blue-and-white porcelain, dark carved wood and anything floral. White lets pattern take the lead, so it works with bold rooms and calm ones alike.
